  I can’t believe what I’m watching right now.

  As a divorce lawyer, I see a lot of unbelievable things, but what’s in front of me is a whole different level of can’t-stop-looking-oh-my-God-what-is-happening.

  The men I’m watching, or the dream fae as they call themselves, burst into mine and my friends’ lives a few days ago, and all three are otherworldly gorgeous, tall, muscled… and weird as heck.

  In a sexy way.

  There’s Lorien, a former king with blue-purple hair that turns short and black in human form.

  There’s Reve, whose sweet demeanor and mermaid-teal hair belie an intense personality. His hair goes short and ash-blond in human form.

  Then there’s Jerrek.

  Jerrek’s long maroon hair stays long and red in human form—because Jerrek doesn’t care what other people think.

  Jerrek doesn’t give a fuck.

  He also went down on one knee the day he met me and promised to protect me for all time.

  He called me his “queen” the first time he met me.

  The audacity.

  Jerrek’s features are slightly sharper and harder than the other fae, and his eyes, a deep purplish-red, look like wine and are just as intoxicating.

  I want to hate him. I want to hate this whole stupid, nonsensical situation. I’m already off work right now because of a situation with a client. The last thing I need is a male distraction.

  Or maybe that’s exactly what I need.

  That’s what my downstairs thinks as I watch what’s currently happening on the dance floor in front of me.

  When the fae said they wanted to dance for us at ladies’ night, I wasn’t expecting this…

  I thought they might do some weird line dance or choreographed routine or something.

  I mean, they’re just not men in the way I’ve usually experienced them. They’re immaculately groomed, hate creeps and porn, obsess over committing to only one woman, and work really hard their whole life to make their “queen” happy.

  I can respect that.

  Almost as much as I respect the way Jerrek is pulling Reve’s neck back, swaying to the music as he stares straight at me with a dominant sparkle in his eyes, lowering his lips like he’s about to kiss Reve’s neck.

  Yes, apparently dream fae dance the way human women do when they’re trying to turn on men.

  With each other.

  Lorien was in on this smash-fest, but Tess already had a jealous freak-out and dragged him off down the hall, probably to hook up.

  That’s good. She needs it. In my opinion, Lorien seems like he’s going to put in the work most men won’t to really satiate his partner.

  Most men aren’t willing to compete with even the kind of pleasure a good book and a vibrator can give.

  That’s why I write romance novels now, on the side, when I’m burnt out from being a divorce attorney. I want to give women an escape from all this like the books I have read gave me.

  Plus, I think the world always needs more love.

  Like the love between Reve and Jerrek right now, I think with a snort.

  “I mean, it’d be a shame to break them up, right?” Jen, my sweet, short, redheaded friend says beside me, basically salivating.

  Lorien had been in the middle, alternating between Reve and Jerrek, but then he left, and I thought it would be over.

  Until Jerrek got that look in his eye and reached for Reve.

  Dammit, he knows this is turning me on.

  And the intense way he’s watching me, the smooth, slow, dominant way he’s owning Reve, makes it feel like he’s owning me.

  One of Jerrek’s hands winds down around Reve’s waist to grip his other hip, pulling him in and trapping him. Jerrek pulls Reve’s hair tighter as he moves over to his shoulder, his wine eyes hot on mine as he lowers his lips to Reve’s skin.

  And actually touches down.

  “What the—” Reve shoves Jerrek off, clearly shocked. He rubs at his neck. “We didn’t practice that.”

  Jerrek shakes his head and motions for Reve to dance with him again. Reve glares at him but moves closer.

  Jerrek looks gorgeous in a shirt that matches his hair and jeans that hug every curve, every bulge.

  He’s so tall. So perfect. His jaw is so hard I just want to run a finger along it. Trace the perfect planes of his cheeks and nose. Get up and close with those wine-colored eyes.

  They’re dancing, but it’s more like they’re showing off how gorgeous they are for the rest of the dance floor, and women are cheering and watching agog, being forced back by security.

  I mean, girls making out with each other on the dance floor to turn on men? Normal. I see that in the background of every action movie, every dance scene, every club scene, every high school movie.

  Men doing it for the sake of women? Not so much.

  So of course everyone wants to watch it.

  The crowd is getting rowdier, and Jerrek’s gorgeous taut muscles and hair are gleaming in the light. Those biceps. Those perfect, delicious forearms.

  But then his eyes meet mine as he runs his hands through his gorgeous hair and does a slow, deliberate roll with his body, like a male stripper might do, and the heat in me burns out of control.

  I want to touch him. Want him to touch me.

  I don’t care that he’s a fairy or that half the club is videoing this on their phones and complaining that it’s not showing up for some reason or that the crowd is undulating and shoving toward us and things are getting louder.

  Jen pushes past me. “I’m getting Reve. My God, I can’t watch anymore. Why is that so hot?”

  “Right?” I mutter. “I mean, it shouldn’t be, but…”

  “Get over here,” Jen says, grabbing Reve by the back of his teal shirt. He spins around, and she catches him in a kiss, then starts dragging him off the dance floor.

  I proceed to Jerrek, who is standing now with his arms folded, no longer a sex god, just a cocky warrior who also happens to be a sex god.

  “Did you like it, q
ueen?” Jerrek’s grin is magnetic. So gorgeous it makes my knees weak.

  “I loved it,” I say, reaching forward to grab his hair, tangle my fingers in its gorgeous lushness, and pull him in toward me. I feel almost enchanted, swept away in want for him, my body almost humming as it imagines the things he can do if he can dance like that.

  Even his hands are beautiful as one comes up to cup my face, and the other cups my waist in a strong, reassuring grip. As if he’s saying, “I got you.”

  It only turns me on, and I squirm slightly in his grasp as the dance floor fills up again, women confused as they look around for something.

  “I made sure they would forget,” he says. “I put up an illusion of someone else so only our dream mates would see us dancing.”

  I grin, wondering what the rest of the club saw and if that’s why they said nothing showed up on their phones.

  “Illusions? Is that a fae power?”

  He nods, pulling me in closer, dancing against me, just feeling the music as our bodies move in tandem.

  His skin, his body, is so hot. There aren’t a lot of words needed as his hand moves to my lower back, urging me closer, our hips together.

  We’re surrounded by bodies and fog and darkness and music. I don’t know where my friends are, though I know they’re safe with their dudes. I don’t have to think about work. Or divorce.

  All I can think about is wanting this man.

  The first time I saw him, at Tess’s apartment, the attraction was instant. Of course it was. Look at him.

  But it was all so weird once they started talking about dream fae and mates and queens and warriors.

  But none of that matters now when all I can think about is what it would be like to have him inside me.

  We’re dancing closer. I can feel something firm, hard, and unbelievably huge up against my thigh, and it makes me want to melt into a pool of sheer want.

  I look up into his eyes, and he smiles.

  “Your effect on me, soul bond.”

  “What does that mean?” I ask, keeping my hands in his hair as he practically holds me up so we can continue to dirty dance on each other.

  So I can use the music as a pretense to feel every inch of his body.

  “My everything,” he says, dipping his head. “My fated one. My dream mate.”

  I want to say something right now, about how all of that sounds crazy and I don’t really believe in marriage, let alone what he’s proposing.

  But I can’t care when he’s growling it in my ear with that sexy voice, his perfect lips teasing my skin, so wet it feels like I’m dripping.

  Dammit.

  “You’re in mating thrall, aren’t you?” he murmurs, that sexy low growl in his voice.

  I nod tightly, keeping him clutched close. I couldn’t let go if I wanted to. I’m aching deeply inside, and it feels like the only answer lies in what he can do.

  His hands rove over me, so strong, so supportive.

  This is how women end up with bad boys. They get swept up in seduction and heat and go with a feeling over their logic.

  But logic is impossible when a man like this is touching you like Jerrek is touching me.

  He leans forward, dipping me back, holding the arch of my back. I let myself fall into his strength, and his lips cover mine as I stay there, caught helplessly.

  I moan and run my hands through his hair. Even though my feet are barely touching the ground, he’s fully supporting me, and it feels like floating.

  Like I’m safe. Like I have someone to depend on.

  Such a rare feeling, especially from someone who’s a relative stranger.

  He pulls me up and breaks the kiss, and we’re both breathless. At this point, my need is a wildfire, and it’s going to burn me down if he doesn’t help me soon.

  I push into him frantically, feeling like a crazy person as I pull at his clothing right in the middle of a dance floor.

  “I understand, soul bond,” he says softly, sweeping me up in his arms. “We’ll go somewhere safe. I’ll take care of you there.”

  “Wherever,” I murmur, pushing up to press kisses to his sweaty, salty, gorgeous neck as he raises his hand and snaps.

  Air whooshes past us, and I tuck in against him, panting, as I feel something like the whole world flying by.

  “Open your eyes,” he says, setting me down gently but putting his arms around my waist.

  I do, and I blink, wondering where I could possibly be.

  It looks like I’m standing in the clouds.

  In a perfect night sky with fluffy blue clouds all over, reflecting the light of the moon and surrounding us like little islands.

  The clouds we’re on feel soft but oddly solid, and I take a few steps forward, realizing that the clouds are slightly pink.

  “Where are we?”

  “My dream camp,” Jerrek says, grabbing my hands and looking down into my eyes with so much love I don’t know what to do with it.

  Because what I feel is pure lust, nothing more.

  I don’t even know him.

  I don’t know how he could claim to know me or want me as a mate or whatever.

  But I do know one thing. He did that dance to turn me on, and it worked. So this freaking supernatural hottie needs to make good on his promise.

  Right this second.

  I lunge forward to kiss him again, jumping into his arms as he laughs and catches me around the waist, holding me easily and spinning me in a circle.

  Then he sets me down and brings his lips over mine, kissing me gently.

  At least, it’s gentle to start. Then his lips start to work, gently opening mine, his tongue flicking in expertly to caress my lower lip, then my upper, then, as I moan, move inside my mouth to stroke the top of my tongue.

  I jolt at the unexpected sensation, but he only comes closer, pressing us together as his tongue goes deeper, thrusting perfectly to mimic something much hotter, bringing me in mind of it even as I become even wetter.

  Because this kiss… this kiss feels unbelievably good.

  I’ve never been much of a kissing fan. It seemed too slow. Just leading up.

  But this? This hot, dominant dance of a kiss is something new and amazing.

  His kisses are talking to me. And they say, “I’m going to blow your mind and ruin everyone who comes after me.”

  And I’m too horny to care.

  Take me, you ridiculous fairy, before I freakin’ die.

  But he just smiles against my lips as if sensing my impatience.

  Then goes back to kissing me again. Just as I feel like I’m going to pass out from sheer, lightheaded want, he pulls back, scooping me into his arms again and carrying me over to a clump of clouds.

  It slowly moves, forming into a bowl-like chair, and he deposits me there.

  It’s soft and cradling, and I just get to lie back and enjoy the excellent view while he changes.

  He pulls off his shirt in one sexy motion, revealing a chest from my wildest dreams. Huge, square pecs, strong, carved abs made of flesh-covered granite, and trim hips. Powerful legs, still in those jeans.

  But he makes no effort to remove them as he comes over to me, placing a knee between my legs as his hands plant on either side of my head on the edges of the cloud chair.

  Then he’s kissing me again but letting me run my hands over his arms, his chest, his gorgeous muscles.

  His hand strokes my cheek, then my shoulder, then moves lower, lower… teasing, just above my breasts.

  His lips freeze against mine, and he stays there, waiting silently for consent.

  I move up, pushing my breast into his hand, and he smiles, cupping it in his strong, warm grasp, teasing his thumb over the peak, which goes hard even in my bra.

  “I love that you react to me like this, dream mate,” he growls against my ear as he places a kiss there, making me shudder. “It’s just proof I was right to wait for you all those years.”

  A slight alarm goes off in my head about that, becaus
e somewhere above this haze of lust, I know I’m not looking for anything serious.

  But I don’t owe him anything, right? This is all his fault. He danced for me.

  “Don’t be nervous,” he says firmly. “I’ll win you, soul bond. I’m sure of it. I can’t start my mate pursuit until after Lorien and Reve. But I’ll win you, no matter what you may think.”

  I swallow, not sure what to think of his reassurance. “Jerrek…” I want to tell him more, but I can’t think.

  I need him.

  “I know you don’t think this should be possible, but I’ll keep showing you,” he says, his voice having that sexy, low growl to it as usual. “I’ll show your body even when your heart doesn’t know what it wants.”

  I moan because his hand is on my breast and his lips are teasing the shell of my ear, and all I want is for him to be inside me.

  For us to not have to talk anymore.

  “No promises,” I finally gasp out, just to be fair to him.

  “Of course not,” he says, coming up to kiss me again. His lips cover mine, chasing away everything but pleasure as his tongue dances with mine, stroking and caressing. He pulls back, and his beautiful maroon hair falls over his sexy, strong shoulders as his wine-colored eyes look down. “Except for this. I promise, soul bond, that you’re the only one I want, and I’m the only one for you. So I am going to win you.”

  I would argue, but then he’s kissing me again, and his hand is playing with the button of my pants. And I don’t care about anything but getting more of his touch, his mouth, his everything.
