Dragon with Benefits (Forgotten Dragons Book 4) Page 17
“I love you,” Petra said, finally remembering what she’d planned to say but had lost somewhere between Trevor’s finger and orgasming.
“I love you too,” he said, slowly spreading her legs. God, she ached only for him.
“You already said that,” she replied playfully, body taut, ready for him.
He set himself between her legs, leaning over her onto his hands on the bed.
“Well, get used to it. Because I’ll be saying it a lot. How can I not when the person who is my everything is right here with me?” His words practically made her heart burst to overflowing.
“You’re so romantic, and you didn’t even know it all this time.” The talking only drew out the moment longer, made her hungrier with each passing second.
“It just took finding the right person to bring that out of me. It just so happens that the right person also is the sexiest, most beautiful person in the world.” He ran his tongue over his lower lip, his cock at her entrance, making the muscles in her hips tense in anticipation. “And I need to keep telling her that.”
She couldn’t hold on any longer. Damn, he knew just how to torture her the right ways, drawing out her pleasure and making it better every time.
“Are you going to keep saying romantic things, or are you—”
He finally, finally thrust into her, sheathing his hard length so tightly, so deeply inside her that she shivered in ecstasy from head to toe.
And in the back of her mind, a creature with gold wings hovered in the recesses of her thoughts even while scorching pleasure consumed her.
Perhaps there was more magic between them than even she could have imagined.
Trevor caught his breath, the feeling of joining with his mate so powerful that it seemed impossible to contain at times.
And as amazing as their encounters in the past week had been, tonight was even more special somehow.
Petra moaned, biting down on a knuckle raised to her mouth as he withdrew, then pushed back in to meet her. Their slick friction was erotic, mind-blowing even though they’d only just begun.
She really was perfect.
Trevor went into a slow, sensual rhythm, bringing their hips together so they could feel every inch of each other. As he did, he lowered himself to take her mouth with his, using his tongue against hers in that way that made her moan from the sensation of it.
There were still some unanswered questions. Things that needed to be worked out.
All Trevor knew was that without Petra, he was wholly incomplete.
All his joy was right here.
Just as he thrust into her tight, warm heat again, she gasped, biting down on his lip, and Trevor smiled to himself. When she looked up at him apologetically, he shook his head, pleased by anything that told him how good she was feeling.
Then he went to her ear, taking the softness of her earlobe between his teeth, and bit back lightly.
“Oh, Trevor.” She sighed as he continued to move inside her.
His cock throbbed from arousal, even the nerves in his fingers and toes going haywire from the slow-burn buildup.
Later, he’d take her hard and fast. Make her come a dozen times, then make her wait until she begged for release.
But right now, it felt like nothing could possibly be more important than each tense, sensual moment they shared like this.
“Faster,” she pled breathlessly. He loved the way her voice hitched with each thrust.
He started to go quicker, the wet sound of their bodies meeting intermingling with Petra’s mewls of pleasure. Her scent, floral, almost spring-like, scintillated his mind even as the sight of her beneath him made his eyes hunger to have her naked around him every day for the rest of their lives.
Trevor doubled his speed, watching Petra as she arched against the bed, pushing her hips in to meet his, both of their bodies in perfect, unified sync. Meanwhile, he continued to kiss down her neck, avoiding the places she already had small hickeys and giving her more for her to look at when they woke up tomorrow. His left hand came up her stomach, feeling over the curve of her body before squeezing one breast in his palm.
He only needed one arm firmly planted on the bed at Petra’s side to stay up anyway.
“So close,” Petra said between gasps, wrapping her arms around his shoulders, holding him so tight with her human strength it was like she never wanted to let go.
Neither did he.
“Then let’s go together,” he replied, rubbing her nipple with his thumb one more time before reaching up to cup his mate’s cheek. Her eyes rolled back for a moment as he thrust inside her, then regained their focus on his, the brown depths of her irises sparkling with love and desire.
In the back of his mind, his dragon was pacing, eager, as if they were both close to something but neither of them knew it.
But all he could focus on was the feel of Petra, the here and now that was so powerful it scratched at his insides, begging them both for release but knowing that each second longer they could last would mean greater ecstasy.
He leaned down, took Petra’s mouth with his once more, then drove into her a little faster than before, pushing them both over the edge like a freight train flying off the tracks.
The second she came, Trevor let her lips go, listening to her screams that filled his spacious room from end to end without reservation.
In that same instant, Trevor’s entire body tightened, muscles straining as his cock jerked inside his mate. The pulses from her body tightening around him even as he came made them both go even harder.
“Petra.” The only word he could mutter was her name as intense pleasure burned his veins like dragon fire.
And that gold beast—his dragon—roared, the sound deafening to his thoughts but not reaching his ears.
Mate, it uttered.
It was hard to think clearly, though, while in the throes of so much pleasure he didn’t know what to do with it all. So Trevor just rode the wave with Petra, holding her tight and letting her hold him as they trembled in each other’s arms.
When everything had finally stopped, all he could hear was Petra, her breaths racing but slowly returning to normal.
“That was…” Trevor couldn’t muster a word.
“Intense. Special.” As she said it, recognition dawned in his mind.
And somehow, in spite of being a double dragon from birth, in spite of everything he’d been taught and told his entire life, the unthinkable had come to pass.
They were mated.
“Yeah, it was,” he replied, wrapping his hand in the soft hair at the nape of Petra’s neck before leaning down to kiss her again. When he pulled back, they just looked into each other’s eyes, studying each other for a moment longer.
He’d need to get in touch with the right people to get more information on how this all was possible. Figure out all the necessary details. But right now, his life—everything he was, everything he had to give, everything they shared together—was Petra’s.
And he’d tell her just as much through his actions every damn day.
He gave her another sweet kiss, then slowly slid out of her.
Once he’d cleaned up, he came back to the bed, pulling Petra into his lap as he leaned against the pillowed headboard.
Even the moments when they weren’t having sex were just as joy-filled and perfect as the rest.
Hell, every moment with his mate was just about perfect. Even the parts where they didn’t get along.
It just meant there was more room for even greater happiness as they grew together.
“I love you, Petra.”
“I love you too, Sushi Douche,” she replied, and Trevor could hear the grin on her lips as the foul words left her too-perfect mouth.
“Hey, I hung my cape already. I’ve put that life behind me now.”
She sat up, then turned around in his lap, poking him with her finger.
“It’s too late. Once a sushi douche, always a sushi douche.” Her finger lingered on h
is chest, though, her fiery eyes faltering down to his pecs before coming back up.
“I’ve sworn it off, sorry,” he said with a mock shrug.
“You’ll always be my sushi douchebag.” Her tongue trailed over her lower lip, leaving it slightly wet.
He sighed. “As long as you’re my sassy, impetuous reporter forever and ever, I don’t care what you call me.” His hands grabbed her ass, pulling her into his chest, where she lay a second, both of them staring into each other’s eyes.
“I was teasing. Just Trevor is fine.” Her eyes softened with a wide smile, and he leaned in to kiss her again.
“Well then, Just Trevor loves you.”
She giggled, her soft body against his too perfect for words. “No. I mean your name. ‘Just Trevor’ isn’t happening.”
“From the ashes of Sushi Douchebag, ‘Just Trevor’ rises to love and protect his mate!” he said emphatically.
Petra giggled, and Trevor picked her up in his arms to take her to the shower where he could spend more time getting to know every inch of the sexy, fiery woman who owned his soul.
And perhaps, even though for so long he’d only seen himself as the dragon with powers and abilities meant for benefitting others, in the end, he’d been granted the greatest benefit he could have ever possibly been given.
Loving Petra.
Chapter 27
One week later…
“Are you sure you’re ready?” Trevor asked, holding Petra’s hand as they walked toward the red dragons’ building.
“I think so,” Petra said. “You’ve prepared me as well as possible. Still a little bit nervous, obviously.”
“I’ll be here,” he said, squeezing her warm hand to reassure her. “I always will be.”
“Well, bring on the adventure, then.”
They walked through the main doors and took the stairs to the second landing, where the door to the twins’ home stood.
The red dragons had converted the old warehouse into a beautiful modern living space they shared with their mates.
It was huge, with plenty of room, so Chad had taken the fae there for a couple days so everyone could mingle.
Tristan and Xander were hosting a fae of their own and Taylor was hosting another one, but Trevor didn’t know if all of them would be here.
He was just happy to see his friends again, this time with nothing to hide.
Trevor knocked, and the door swung open, revealing Xander’s flushed, smiling face. He had his arm around Janet.
“They’re here!” He turned back to yell at the others.
Xander was a carbon copy of his twin, save for his shaggy blond hair, tattoos, and love of leather biker clothing and motorcycles.
Tristan was more buttoned-up, with short hair, a calmer demeanor, and a love of art and wearing absolutely stupid disguises before he met his mate, Kelsie.
Both were tall, handsome dragons with vivid blue eyes that Trevor had never seen on another shifter.
Janet, Xander’s mate, was a tall, curvy redhead with flashing green eyes. She stopped forward to shake Petra’s hand as the two were introduced by Xander.
Tristan brought his mate, Kelsey, up next. Kelsey had tawny skin and a halo of soft curls.
“It’s good to meet you, Petra.” Her eyes scanned Trevor playfully. “I had wondered who would be able to put up with this guy.”
Trevor grimaced. “I already apologized for—”
“You kidnapped me,” Kelsie said, glaring. She turned to Petra. “Did he tell you that?”
“Trevor!” Petra glared at him.
“She was in our territory! We thought she was in trouble…” Trevor shook his head, feeling like there was no way out, before Kelsie giggled and grabbed Petra’s hand.
“Oh my God, have you met the fae yet? You need to.”
Trevor caught Petra by the hand before she could be pulled away from him. “You okay?”
“Yes,” Petra said, smiling. “Kelsie will take good care of me. You go catch up with Chadwick.”
Then Trevor had to watch as his mate was pulled into the living room and over to Taylor, a huge man with deep-blue eyes and dark hair cascading back into a ponytail. Taylor was sitting with his mate, Mindy, who looked tiny beside him.
But Trevor was distracted as Chad came into his view, suddenly taking up his whole vision.
He was pulled into a firm hug and hugged his partner back, smiling when the purple dragon clapped him on the shoulder before releasing him.
“Did you two get enough time to work things out?” Chad asked. “I know things were difficult for you.”
“Yes,” Trevor said, looking over at Petra as she was pulled by Kelsie to sit on a couch next to her and Tristan.
There were also three other men sitting on the couch, facing away so Xander couldn’t make out their features. They had short hair and—
He blinked. “Are those the fae?”
Chad rubbed the back of his hair, making it stand up in all directions. There were faint stress lines under his eyes, though he seemed happy. “Yes. Different with their suppressors on, aren’t they?”
Trevor blinked. “Suppressors?”
“You need to go to more meetings.” Xander sighed, folding his arms as Janet went over to sit on the couch again, next to Kelsie and Petra. “They wear those things to keep their true form from manifesting. Anyway, it seems to be complicated how much of themselves they show at any moment, but with those bracelets, they appear human as long as they wear them.”
“The oracle made them, I guess,” Trevor said, still a little shocked at the difference.
“She provided them, anyway,” Chadwick said. “Here, come meet them again. I know they didn’t make a very good impression, but—”
“Neither did I,” Trevor said.
Xander shook his head. “Not your job to make a good impression when you think your mate is in danger.”
“True,” Trevor said. He looked over at the living room where the men were still facing away from him, all sitting on a couch facing the women who all seemed to be charmed.
Even Petra was looking at the couch the fae were on a little oddly.
“Hey, Flint, turn down the charm, okay?” Chad shouted over.
“Charm?” Trevor asked.
Chad rolled his eyes, releasing an aggrieved sigh. “One of their spells. They use it almost compulsively around females, especially human ones. Supposedly, that’s where dragon charm comes from.”
“Sounds sketchy,” Trevor said, folding his arms.
“It’s not,” Chadwick said. “They aren’t doing anything to anyone with the spell. It’s more a way of showing aspects of their true form to potential mates.”
“I’m going over there,” Trevor said firmly, not liking the idea of his mate being charmed in any way by anyone other than him.
“They’re just practicing,” Chadwick called. “They don’t mean any harm by it.”
Trevor ignored him as he stomped over to the living room, rounding the couch where his mate sat with Kelsie and Tristan.
Trevor pulled a chair up and put it next to where Petra was sitting. Then he sat down, folding his arms to pin the newcomers he was now facing with a glare.
It was a mistake.
As Trevor’s eyes found the couch where the fae were sitting, it was almost hard to see straight. Like a haze was surrounding him.
Mainly from the fae in the center of the couch, who had deep-scarlet hair shaved up one side and flowing long over the other. A warrior hairstyle, despite the normal clothing the fae wore.
When his burning yellow eyes met Trevor’s, Trevor felt frozen in place as heat began to wave around him.
He got warmer and, without really knowing what he was doing, began to undo the buttons on his button-up, slowly pulling it off.
He could barely think straight with how hot it was.
“Trevor!” Petra was grabbing his hands now, trying to redo the buttons. “What on earth?”
The red-haired fae l
aughed, snapping his fingers, and Trevor gasped as the air came back to normal.
But where was that stifling heat?
“Sorry,” the red-haired man said, grinning at Trevor with perfect teeth in a perfect grin. “The ladies wanted to see my heatwave.” His eyes wandered over Trevor, whose buttons were undone, and his smile deepened. “If it’s effective on dragons, it should be effective on humans. Looks like it shouldn’t take too long to find a mate if I just—”
Whack.
“That’s not how you win your mate, doofus.” Xander, who had just walked up behind the couch, had batted the red-haired fae over the head with a rolled-up magazine. “Now put your suppressor on, Flint.”
“But it’s boring,” Flint said, though he grabbed the leather bracelet on the table and put it on with a groan.
Instantly, he changed in front of Trevor’s eyes, growing slightly shorter, ears disappearing, features moving infinitesimally until they were just slightly less striking and a little more human.
The fae still had large, almond-shape eyes in a shade of amber, but his hair was short, thick, and auburn.
His fae beauty remained in his smooth, even skin and handsome face. He was still tall, though no longer ridiculous fae height. His wide, muscled shoulders tapered to slim hips.
All of the fae had pretty similar builds, and none were quite as bulky as dragons.
But they emanated danger all the same. Enough to make the dragon inside Trevor restless.
As Flint sat back, looking bored, Trevor turned his attention to the fae on either side of him.
His eyes widened as he recognized the white-haired one that had bound Petra.
Though now, instead of angelic robes and long white hair, the man had ice-blond hair, thick and short and tousled, and was wearing some kind of tracksuit on his muscled body.
“I’m sorry about before,” the fae said, crossing one foot lazily over the other. “I hope there are no hard feelings.”
The fae’s eyes were a shade of gray so light they reminded Trevor of dove feathers. But his dark lashes and brows gave definition to his face. Even with a suppressor, the dude was otherworldly good-looking, with full lips, a straight jaw, and high cheekbones.
